About

My name is Maletsabisa Molapo (first name correctly spelt ‘Maletšabisa). I was born and raised in The Kingdom of Lesotho, Southern Africa.

I am completing a Masters degree in Computer Science at the University of Cape Town(UCT), South Africa. At UCT I am based in the ICT for Development Research Centre (ICT4D).  My academic interests include the use of ICTs in promoting health and education, User Experience Design, and Web Science/Internet Social Science. Currently my research focuses on low literacy users’ access to educational content, the web and other ICT services. Outside academics, I am passionate about the different aspects of the health, education, and empowerment of women and girls in Africa.

I am a Mandela Rhodes scholar, a fellow of the Moremi Initiative for Women’s Leadership in Africa, a One Young World ambassador in Lesotho, a Google Anita Borg scholar, an alumnus of the UCT Chapter of United Nations Association of South Africa.

I blog on issues relating to my GNOME Outreach Program for Women internship, my research in ICT4D and all else that falls under the interest areas named above.
